Using Your Natural Relief Valve

Think about it!  Doesn't anger feel better than being Powerless, Depressed or Fearful?

It does, doesn't it? That is why so many people go there so easily. They want to feel better and anger is the only option when you feel Powerless.  So how can you use anger as a temporary bridge to feeling better? Write out your anger for a week.

To get started follow these steps:

1. Get angry about a minor situation that makes you powerless and write out your anger about this subject until you find relief.

2. Start with a subject that is small and insignificant, not the biggest problem you face. For example, a traffic ticket, a computer that doesn’t work, someone who cuts you off in traffic, alarm clock that doesn't ring. Something that really makes you upset.

3. Write out your anger for an initial period of 30 minutes or until you feel relief.

4. Daily write out your anger for 10-30 minutes for a couple of days or a week.  If necessary, write out your anger twice a day. Write out who you are mad at and why they deserve it.
